Linguistics Circle at MDC resumes Thursday, January 12, from 7-9pm (EST) in the Boardroom at MDC. This month, Iain Sungmin Park will be presenting a paper entitled “Prestige Religious Language of the Earliest Christianity: Indexical Cycle of the Jerusalem Church in Acts 1:6–6:6.” Utilizing Allan Bell’s “style” model, the paper argues that Greek was the prestige religious language of the Jerusalem church after Peter’s Pentecost sermon.
